Here's Where It Started...
From 13-16 years old, I interned over the summers full time for a large church camp in south Texas - with the mission of increasing the number of campers organically every year.
We served thousands of campers each summer.
That's me doing the splits in the front!
My first 2 years in dance, I was in the beginners' class - I danced beginner level.
My 3rd year, all the other girls quit and they moved me to the advanced class - I danced advanced level. I became a dance instructor.
I learned:
You only grow as big as the room you're in.
Graduated at 16 and started college.
Started to question why megachurches seemingly manifest overnight, and other churches (no matter how hard they try) can't seem to grow.
I sought a leadership role at my church's youth group because I wanted it to grow like a wildfire.
I quickly learned that if you want things to change, you have to be the one in charge.
Married on July 4th. Yes, there were literal fireworks when we kissed!
I proposed first when (after praying one night) God told me, "You're better together than you ever could be apart."
We often recount how different our lives would be if we had not married. We both feel we leveled up.
Marriage is a partnership.
Choose carefully. This is the person you're taking into battle.
Helped launch 4 churches, and worked with local non-profits and small businesses. They never had a big budget - so we had to be creative.
All of my organic community strategies started at a local level offline.
Benjamin and I launched a general contracting company in Texas that served home builders and homeowners with $1M+ properties.
I led marketing and business development - cold calling, door hangers, door-to-door canvassing, referrals, and networking.
My oldest daughter Journey was born!
At-home water birth with a midwife, born 9lbs 14oz. Born at 41 weeks.
Before Facebook groups even existed, I monetized my first online communities via paid sponsorships.
My oldest son Israel joined our family!
Dropped by my midwife at 38 weeks, Benjamin and I devoured university library medical textbooks as quickly as possible, and had our first unassisted home water birth.
Israel was born 1 week early at 8lbs 9oz after a 23-hour labor. (Do not induce with castor oil!)
My daughter Moriah arrived (much to the thrill of her siblings... as you can see!)
Birth Plan: I decided to relax into labor and sleep if I got tired.
To my surprise, I went into labor at 5am and Moriah was born at 6:30am. 1.5-hour labor! Home water birth, unassisted, 9lbs 13oz. Born at 41 weeks.
I joined the network marketing world to supplement our family's income while my husband was in the military.
Ultimately, I decided, "Why am I building somebody else's empire, when I could be building my own?"
Benjamin joined the US Army, and left me alone for almost 9 months while at training...
So I decided to fulfill a childhood dream and work with tigers! I worked on a tiger farm in Texas while taking care of our 3 kids.
After healing from a tragic miscarriage in 2012, my rainbow baby Charisma was born 10lbs 13oz. At-home water birth, 41 weeks.
When Charisma was 3 weeks old, Benjamin had to fly out for a combat deployment to Afghanistan.
Aced all my courses and started learning about city planning and community engagement strategy at a higher level.
My youngest son Gabriel was born 12lbs 5oz at 42 weeks. Unassisted water birth at home.
I looked at my husband and said, "If they just keep getting bigger, I think I'm done."
As a mom of 5 I get to secretly test all of my sales persuasion tactics.
I finally decided to pursue my childhood dreams, and sang a parody song I wrote on stage for the first time in front of an audience of 3000+.
Volunteered to take over as the leader of the Family Readiness Group (FRG) for Benjamin's unit.
Transformed it from less than 10% engagement to nearly 100% within the first 30 days.
Also raised more money during my first fundraising event than the FRG had done the entire previous fiscal year.
After my oldest son Israel got 2nd and 3rd degree burns on his hands during a focal seizure, we discovered it was caused by a brain tumor.
He lost his ability to use his hands, play outside, or do anything on his own, and became depressed and suicidal (due to medication side effects).
For 2 months, I also was depressed, but I couldn't let my son die. So I became the motivational speaker for my kids.
I would go into my closet and cry, and come back out and speak life to my kids.
One day I came out and told my kids, "You can do and be whatever you want in life, as long as you pursue it with all your might."
It hit me like a punch to the gut - I wasn't pursuing my dreams. That is when I decided: I had to show my kids firsthand.
I shared the story on my Facebook timeline.
After telling my kids that anything was possible, I decided to prove it to them and launched my company.
I got my first client and first expert guest speaking appearance!
In my first 6 months, I passed the $100K collected mark in business revenue for my brand new company. #It'sPossible!
Wrote & published my first book.
After 4 skin graft surgeries and a brain surgery, Israel was given a clean bill of health from his pediatric neurosurgery team and took his last ever dose of anti-seizure medicine.
Invited to share my first in-person keynote presentation as a community engagement strategy expert for a high-level mastermind of 6 to 8-figure entrepreneurs.
Since starting my company, we've passed the $600K+ mark in collected revenue.
Even more exciting are the millions of dollars in revenue I've helped my clients generate.
